The movement of rainwater is examined through the use of imagination and the Enviroscape model.

3-6 Community Waters The relationship of water users and polluters to each other and the environment (enviroscape model used).
k-6 Gift of Trees Students will split up into teams, randomly select "gift" categories from nine, and then work as a team to identify individual "gifts".

With the use of a model, students will learn about  surface runoff, erosion, point and non-point pollution, and pollution prevention.

Global Information      System (GIS)

Students will be introduced to ArcView GIS, locally available layers, internet sites,  and its many uses in conservation planning.  (Computer projector used and internet connection, if phone jack available.)

From Field to Table A wide ranging look at food from photosynthesis, labeling, historical impacts, and distribution. ( A power point presentation with use of computer projector.)
4-8 Habitat for Life  A slide show look at habitat necessary for life along with the food web and energy flow.  Also, a look at man's place and responsibility in habitat.

Students use charades to distinguish between wild and domesticated animals.

3-6 Tree Factory By acting out the parts of a tree, your students will see how a tree works like a factory.  Afterward they can create their own "tree factories".

Name That Tree

In this activity, your student will learn more about trees by identifying features such as leaves, twigs, bark, etc.
3-8 The Water Cycle Evaporation, precipitation, transpiration, surface water, and ground water.
k-4 Silt: a Dirty Word Students will create a model to simulate changes to a stream and its water flow when silt and/or sand are added to the system.
k-4 Marsh Munchers Students will: 1) identify components of a food web in a salt marsh; and 2) identify their interconnectedness in the food web.
k-4 Are You Me? Using picture cards, students match pairs of juvenile and adult aquatic animals.
k-3 Water Match Students will identify the three states of water (solid, liquid, gas) and recognize that water can become polluted and some water can be cleaned.
1-8 Tree Cookies Tree rings show age and patterns of change in the tree's life as well as changes in the area where it grows.

Tree Life Cycle  Students will discover that trees have a lifecycle that is similar to that of other living things.  Older students will investigate a tree's role in the ecosystem at each stage of its life.
5-6 Career Critters Students match organisms to environmental problems in a community and evaluate the potential of the organisms to help solve the problem. 
5-6 Move Over Rover Students play a game in which the object is to identify characteristic animals found in several ecosystems and match these animals to the environment in which they live.
5-8 Good Buddies  Students research pairs of animals, play a card game and classify the pairs of animals according to thee major forms of symbiotic relationships.
k-4  The Beautiful Basics  Students list and organize needs of people, pets, and wildlife.
5-8 Habitat Rummy Students identify components of habitat and apply knowledge of these components to habitat requirements of various species of animals.
k-4 What's Wild Students locate, classify, and construct collages made from pictures of wild and domesticated animals.
